headphones from a company called SoundWhiz. The headphones are called the

As I've said in previous headphone reviews, I am incredibly
picky when it comes to my listening devices. In-ear and on-ear options do not
really address my personal preference. But, I am always keen to give new
products a shot, hoping that something will come along that provides me with
alternatives, because when I hop on my stationary bike circumaural headphones
are NOT ideal. They're heavy. They're hot. And, being wired, they're tethered
to my computer. The WhizBeats W10 headset from SoundWhiz endeavors to address
all those issue.
My initial experience with this headset was an altogether
foreign one. Perforated shields stood between the ear bud and the body of each
earpiece. Though I didn't understand their purpose at first, fitting them in
place revealed their function. The shields fit in the concha of the ear,
holding the headset in place even during heavy activity. A flat, tangle free
cord connects the two ear buds, and the headset itself pairs easily with most
Bluetooth enabled devices.
As to sound quality, the WhizBeats comport themselves nicely
with a range that even includes a deep bass unrivaled by any other earbuds I've
tested to date. The very nature of earbuds imparts them with a noise cancelling
quality. As with all earbuds the process of wearing them, for me at least, feels
like shoving pillows in my head. This lends an kind of muffled tonality that's
hard to shake. I admit that this is my response to earbuds in general though.
So, it's not an issue specific to the WhizBeats. The sound quality of the mic
translates to a tinny, empty room effect. This has been pretty common to
similarly priced headsets (not headphones) I've tried though. It's hard to
expect much more when the mic is basically in your ear.
Then, unfortunately, there's the battery life. Though
SoundWhiz claims these headphones have an 8 hour talk/playback time, this
simply is not the case. What I'm seeing, on average, is 4 hours. The upside is
that they only take around 45 minutes to recharge.
